Learning Through Cooking, Nourishing Body and Mind

At Lignum Vitae, lunch is more than a meal, it's a daily learning experience that integrates Plan d'études romand (PER) curriculum standards across multiple domains. Students participate in our project-based cooking program, planning menus, shopping for ingredients, and preparing nutritious meals for the school community. Through this hands-on approach, students develop math skills (measurements, budgets), literacy (recipes, lists), scientific understanding (nutrition, transformations), and life skills, all while creating the lunch we share together each day. Our emphasis on whole foods, balanced nutrition, and shared meals fosters healthy relationships with food and strengthens our sense of community.
